HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
The Central University is an initiative of the international Central Gospel Church (ICGC). It has its origins in a short – term pastoral training institute which was started in 1988. The College later expanded its programmes to include an integrated and practice – oriented business school and to reflect it new status as a liberal arts university, the name was changed to Central University College in 1999.
The College now has two Schools namely, the School of Theology and Missions and the School of Business Management and Administration and it is affiliated to the University of Cape Coast. In 2004/05, total student population is about 2000. The College plans to offer courses in the area of Science, Medicine, Engineering and other related discipline in the near future.


Worker – Friendly Programmes
The programmes have been structured to allow full time workers to participate fully. The morning session starts from 8:00am and ends at 2:00pm; the Afternoon session starts at 4:30pm and ends at 8:30pm. The week –end programme runs from Friday evening 5:00pm to 8:50pm and Saturday 8:00am.
