UNIVERSITY OF GHANA, LEGON, ACCRA.
INTRODUCTION
Founded in 1948, the University of Ghana is the oldest and most renowned tertiary institution in Ghana. It is located in Accra, the capital city of Ghana. The mission of the university is to develop world class human resource and capacity to meet national development needs through quality teaching, learning, research and knowledge dissemination. It offers courses in many diverse fields and the standards of it programmes is universally acclaimed. It is coeducational. Admission is very competitive for all courses and open to both local and foreign students. In 2005 total students population is 26,959 (Legon, Korle – Bu and Accra – city Campus) and total staff population is 3,759.  In 2004/2005 academic year, 19,700 candidates applied for admission and only 11,057 were offered admission. It has campus residential facilities for most students and lecturers, however, due to the sharp increase in student intake in recent times, lots of students are non – residential. Legon is particularly famous for its Medical, Business and Law Schools.
University of Ghana, Legon is also one of public Universities in Ghana.
ACCRA CITY CAMPUS:

The Accra City Campus offers courses degree programmes in the Humanities. The Campus currently offers courses leading to the award of BA and B. Sc (Administration) degrees of the University of Ghana. The syllabus and other requirements for the programmes are the same as those offered on the Legon campus. One of the attractions of the City programmes is that the student may retain his/her full time work and combine that with studies.
